TLDSB schools attend the 2022 Haliburton-Muskoka-Kawartha Water Festival

On September 27, nine schools across Trillium Lakelands District School Board travelled to the Kinark Outdoor Centre to take part in a day of learning about water ecology and stewardship at the 2022 Haliburton-Muskoka-Kawartha Water Festival.

For the first time since 2019, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 360 Grade 4 to 6 students were engaged in experiential, outdoor learning, participating in the 27 interactive activity stations. Each station had a focus on water conservation, technologies, and protecting the ecologies of watersheds and how water is involved in climate change.

Students and supporting teachers have now taken the hands-on experiences they learned at the festival back into their classrooms through curriculum-linked activities and multiple subjects throughout the school year.
