The changes, in brief summary, include:
  • Children with only one new or worsening symptom of sore throat, stuffy nose/runny nose, headache, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, or fatigue/lethargy/muscle aches/ malaise can return to school 24 hours after their symptoms improve without requiring a COVID-19 test, and as long as they can pass the daily screening.
  • A child with two or more of the symptoms of sore throat, stuffy nose/runny nose, headache, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, or fatigue/lethargy/muscle aches/ malaise OR with just one symptom of fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste will still need to contact a health care provider for an alternative diagnosis OR to get a COVID-19 test.
